11-6 headlines

Here’s where we’re at and where we’re going:
Still waiting for tech support for the message board company to get the message boards migrated to the new server. They just released a new version of the boards, so the tech support is terribly backlogged. After that’s accomplished we’ll get the full website moved over to the new location and we’ll be rolling right along.

Aside from the new server and web host, I’ve contacted a third party for hacker protection. Someone who will scan the site daily for vulnerabilities and I’ll have a nifty little medallion on the site declaring us as hacker safe. That’s a little out of our budget for now, but we’re refiguring our finances to accommodate the need. Also, I’ve contacted a consultant to give me an estimate for help in our web development. Something that would basically automate our website and free up about 4-6 hours of my day for doing things other than updating and archiving. Finally, We’re going to upgrade the blog. The blog will no longer be hosted by wordpress and will instead be uploaded to our server. This opens up a huge new variety of opportunities for the blog in regards to appearance and functionality. Once the move is complete and the blog is up and primed, I’ll start fishing around to see if some of the more famous columnists around the net would like to contribute. I’m looking at you, Thom Hartmann.

Needless to say, this puts us behind schedule for the original plans for video editing, but to be honest it’s less expensive than doing the hardware upgrade that had intended to do. One step back, two steps forward.

Also, the training materials for the new website software will be delivered this week, so oldamericancentury.org v2.0 will be a reality before you know it.
