Is Impeachment Still Off the Table Pelosi?

Hey Pelosi? Is impeachment still off the table with the information from Scott McClellan’s publisher that he was told to lie about the leaking of Valerie Plame’s identity by Cheney and Bush (along with Card, Libby, and Rove)?

Fed Up With Cowardice and Duplicity

Filed under: Foreign affairs, Iran, Iraq, civil liberties — Rowan Wolf @ 8:43 pm

I am fed up and more than ticked off by most of the Congress and by the Democratic Presidential candidates. Remember the expansion of the Bush’s illegal wiretapping? Remember the temporary expansion of the FISA extension than Representative Harman was passed based on hyped security threats? WHY are the Democrats passing these attacks on civil liberties and Constitutional protections?

Iran hostage crisis becomes clearer

Filed under: Iran — Rowan Wolf @ 10:48 am

The headline reads “US rejects Iran captives exchange.” My initial response was “Why is the US doing rejecting a captive exchange”? My second thought was, “not those hostages”. Yes, Iran has asked for the five Iranian Consulate staff seized by the from Irbil, Kirkuk in January, 2007. You may recall that Bush had approved an attack on the Iranian Consulate in Kirkuk. Iranian Consulate Raid - Spin Zone

Filed under: Iran, Iraq — Rowan Wolf @ 11:09 am

By Rowan Wolf of Uncommon Thought Journal

The U.S. network news reports conveniently leave out the information that target of “the raid” that resulted in the continued detention of “five Iranians,” was an Iranian consulate. It was not just “some place.” It was a particular place. It was not just “five Iranians.” It was five members of the Iranian Consulate in Irbil, Iraq. Those are critical pieces of information, make all the difference between protecting Iraq’s security, and essentially attacking the sovereign territory of Iran - an act of war. Iran has thus far refused to be provoked into a retaliatory act which could be used by Bush to legitimate a war on Iran. The presentation of this in the U.S. news is spin - the same kind of spin and half-truth that got us into Iraq.

Worried About New Bush Wars?

Filed under: Iran, Iraq, Militarization — Rowan Wolf @ 7:39 pm

By: S. Rowan Wolf of Uncommon Thought Journal

Are you worried about new fronts in the Bush wars? Iran and Syria for example? You are not alone - Senators fear Iraq war may spill to Iran, Syria. From the January 10th speech by George Bush, to the mobilization of the fleet to “warn” Iran, to the US raid on the Iranian consulate in Irbil, Iraq, it seems Bush’s intent is to provoke a response from Iran which could be used to legitimate a US attack.

Fox Lies: Jihad of Oliver North

Oliver NorthOliver North, host of “War Stories” on Fox News, devoted an entire hour to “jihad.” Presented as a “special investigation,” it replaced the normal format of the show: a blood-and-soil adoration of military power; a “my-country-right-or-wrong” mentality; and the insistence that war fits into some kind of larger purpose or design. North really does love the smell of napalm in the morning…

In the latest “War Stories” episode, some of the major distortions, omissions and lies deserve mention. For example, Oliver North linked Yasser Arafat to Radical Islam. While Arafat certainly employed terror tactics – and practically invented the concept of “skyjacking’ – Arafat was a secular leader of a nationalist movement. His most famous declarations and programs made absolutely NO mention of Islam. So why is North eager to depict all Middle Eastern anti-western movements as Islamic? The simplicity harkens back to the glory days of the Cold War, when communists all emanated from the same monolithic bloc.

Oliver North then turned his attention to Iran. There was no mention that under the Reagan administration North helped sell weapons to the Ayatollah Khomeini and then used the ill-gotten gains to sponsor death squads in Central America. That was the reason for North’s mug-shot. North was separated from terrorism by zero degrees.

Israel Taking A More Militant Posture?

Filed under: Iran, Israel, Militarization — Rowan Wolf @ 11:34 am

By: Rowan Wolf of Uncommon Thought Journal

While both Israel and Hizbullah claimed victory in the recent 33 day war, for Israel it was a loss. Superior military strength and weaponry did not shock an awe Hizbullah into laying down their arms. Even the use of banned weapons - such as cluster bombs - did not save the day. The mood in Israel from all reports is tending distinctly away from Olmert, but recent events seem to be leading Israel to a more extreme posture - not a more moderate one. (more…)
